After an uncharacteristic season a year ago in which the East Carolina baseball team posted a 32-27 (.542) record, sixth-year head coach Billy Godwin and his staff will look to 21 returning letterwinners to steer the Pirate ship back into post-season play.
One of the longest evenings in a Sports Information Director (SID) career is when he/she starts putting together media credential packets for the start of their respective sports seasons. After collecting faxes and emails from our local media contingents over the past month, today was that day for me. It's actually a pretty entertaining time as I start getting pumped up for the upcoming baseball season, which is now just FOUR days away.
Well game week is officially here!!!
Around the country nearly all 292 Division I teams will kick off the 2011 season searching for the feeling that South Carolina had at the end of last year when they topped UCLA for the College World Series (CWS) title in Omaha, Neb. at Rosenblatt Stadium.
Well just as East Carolina prepares for their season opener next week against Youngstown State, several former Pirates will be hitting the diamond as well pursuing their dreams of playing in the Major Leagues.
With the start of the collegiate baseball season right around the corner, I thought today would be a good time to recap some preseason honors for the 2011 East Carolina Pirates.
