Despite winning 10 World Series titles with the New York Yankees in his 19-year Major League career, Hall of Famer Yogi Berra might be better known for his off the wall quotes like "It's déjà vu all over again." Berra explained that this quote originated when he witnessed Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris repeatedly hit back to back home runs in the Yankees' seasons in the early 1960s.

The French term déjà vu means, literally, "already seen." Those who have experienced the feeling describe it as an overwhelming sense of familiarity with something that shouldn't be familiar at all. Earlier this spring head coach Billy Godwin spoke at the Greater Greenville Sports Club luncheon and used those words when talking about 5-foot-9 freshman Ben Fultz.

He told the crowd that Fultz reminded him of former all-conference performer Harrison Eldridge in the way he approaches the game on the field and in the box, and said "you might think your experiencing déjà vu when you see this kid play."

Fultz comes to East Carolina after earning four letters for head coach Donnie Maness at Ragsdale High School where he was a four-time Piedmont All-Conference selection. As a senior he helped the Tigers to a 16-8 overall record and earned all-state honors after batting .391 with eight home runs, 29 RBI and scored 31 runs.

During his junior season he batted an impressive .426 (29-for-68) with three home runs, 27 RBI and 28 runs scored and was named the Tigers Hitter-of-the-Year, an honor he took home for the second time after batting .456 as a sophomore with five home runs and 30 RBI. Outside the classroom, Fultz was a four-time honor roll student.
