The East Carolina baseball team is coming off a 4-1 week where they picked up wins against Campbell (3-2), High Point (5-4), Monmouth (4-3) and Rutgers (5-0). The Pirates' (11-4) lone loss was against Liberty, 2-0, in the Eighth Annual LeClair Classic Finale.
On the week, the ECU pitching staff registered its fourth shutout of the season, allowed 11 runs (eight earned) and lowered its team ERA to a Conference USA best 1.87. ECU has another tough week ahead playing five games in six days before they enter C-USA action March 25-27 when they play host to Memphis.

Pirate Hitter of the Week
Trent Whitehead, Senior, OF
Whitehead helped the Pirates to a 4-1 week where he batted .381 (8-for-21) with three doubles and four RBI ... He recorded a pair of three-hit games against High Point and Monmouth, while also registering hits against Campbell and Rutgers ... In the Pirates 5-4 win over High Point he recorded three doubles and drove in three RBI ... Collected game-winning RBI against Monmouth on a RBI triple in the seventh inning ... In all, he led the Pirates in hits, RBI, total bases, slugging and tied Corey Thompson with the lead in doubles ... On the season he is batting .290 (18-for-62) with six doubles, eight runs scored and nine RBI.
Pirate Pitcher of the Week
Brad Mincey, Senior, RHP
Mincey made three appearances out of the bullpen this week working 9.0 innings where he did not allow a run, surrendered just one hit, struck out seven and walked two (one of those intentional) ... On the week he held opposing hitters to an impressive .038 average ... The right-hander picked up his second win of the season against High Point after tossing 2.2 innings (2 over minimum) of scoreless relief with a strikeout and an intentional walk ... He followed that up with an inning of relief against Monmouth in the LeClair Classic working a perfect eighth frame with two punch outs ... Against Liberty, he recorded his second longest outing of the season going 5.1 innings (3 over minimum) allowing a hit with four strikeouts and a walk ... On the season he owns an impressive 0.48 ERA (second-lowest on the team) posting a 2-0 record with 11 strikeouts to just three walks in 18.2 innings in eight appearances ... He has not allowed a run in his last 17.0 innings of relief work dating back to his relief outing at then No. 10 Virginia on Feb. 27.
