East Carolina picked up its second series win in Conference USA action this past weekend taking a home series from UCF. Seth Maness (5-3, 2.05 ERA) and Kevin Brandt (5-0, 1.38 ERA) notched wins for the Pirates over the Knights, while freshman Jack Reinheimer led the team offensively with a .526 average where he was 10-for-19 with a team-best four RBI.
The Pirates have a yet another difficult week as they will play four games in five days which includes a Tuesday night match-up at home against instate rival UNC Wilmington (6 p.m. EST) before heading to Houston, Texas for a three-game league series against Houston that starts Thursday, April 21 (7:30 p.m. EST).

Jack Reinheimer, Freshman, SS
Reinheimer helped the Pirates to a 2-2 week which included a series win against UCF ... He led the squad with a .526 (10-for-19) average, while also ranking tops in hits (10), RBI (4), total bases (10), slugging (.526), on-base percentage (.550) and collected three multi-hit games ... Against the fifth-ranked Tar Heels he was 3-for-5 with a RBI recording singles in his first three at-bats ... He followed that with a career-best 4-for-4 performance in ECU's 12-6 opening series win over UCF, which included a pair of RBI, two runs scored and a walk ... Reinheimer reached base five times and collected a pair of singles in the Pirates' six-run third frame ... In game two versus the Knights he was 1-for-4 and closed the series with a 2-for-5 outing which included a RBI single in the second, extending his current hitting streak to five games where he batted .478 (11-for-23) ... Currently he is batting a team-best .339 (39-for-115) with 17 RBI (four game-winning) and 17 runs scored and has started 29 of 33 games at shortstop.
Kevin Brandt, Junior, LHP
Brandt picked up the series clinching win against the Knights working 8.0 innings in his fifth start of the season ... He improved to 5-0 on the year and recorded his third-straight win in his last three outings (2 starts, 1 relief) ... From the third to the seventh inning he retired 13-of-14 batters faced allowing a single to Derek Luciano before picking him off at first, his second pickoff of the day ... In all he allowed three runs (all earned) on eight hits (one extra base hit) with five strikeouts ... As a starter he is 3-0, boasts a 1.73 ERA and has struck out 28 in 36.1 innings ... Coming out of the bullpen, Brandt is 2-0 with an impressive 0.57 ERA in six outings ... On the season he has fanned 40 batters while walking 13 and owns a 1.38 ERA, which ranks among the national leaders ... He has combined on three shutouts and recorded his second career complete game against No. 21 Rice on April 10 ... Opposing teams are hitting a composite .193 against him.
