Following the conclusion of its 2011 season, the East Carolina baseball team continues to be ranked in the national polls when it garnered a No. 29 ranking by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Tuesday afternoon.

A trio of underclassmen, who helped East Carolina (41-21) to its fourth NCAA Regional appearance and third Regional Final under head coach Billy Godwin, earned Charlottesville All-Regional honors.
Sophomore John Wooten (Goldsboro, N.C.) was a unanimous selection at first base, while freshmen Ben Fultz (Greensboro, N.C.) was named to one of the outfield spots and Chase McDonald (Greenville, N.C.) was selected as the designated hitter.
Fifteen players from the 2011 East Carolina baseball squad that went 41-21, made its fourth NCAA Regional appearance under head coach Billy Godwin and the school's 25th appearance, will be playing summer ball across the country.
Six East Carolina players were selected in the 2011 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft this week marking the second-most Pirates taken in draft (7 in 2004).
Shawn Armstrong (Cleveland Indians), Seth Maness (St. Louis Cardinals), Brad Mincey (Florida Marlins), Mike Wright (Baltimore Orioles), Seth Simmons (Arizona Diamondbacks) and Zach Wright (Philadelphia Phillies) all heard their names called earlier in the week.
