A trio of underclassmen, who helped East Carolina (41-21) to its fourth NCAA Regional appearance and third Regional Final under head coach Billy Godwin, earned Charlottesville All-Regional honors.
Sophomore John Wooten (Goldsboro, N.C.) was a unanimous selection at first base, while freshmen Ben Fultz (Greensboro, N.C.) was named to one of the outfield spots and Chase McDonald (Greenville, N.C.) was selected as the designated hitter.
Wooten lead all players with eight hits batting .500 (8-for-16) with two RBI, one run during four games. McDonald, who ranked among the tournament leaders in RBI (t-1st/5), total bases (t-1st/11) and hits (t-2nd/7), batted .438 (7-for-16) with a grand slam, scored a run and drew a pair of walks. Fultz started all four games in left field collecting five hits (.333 avg.) where he drove in one and recorded a double.
