Junior Kevin Brandt rebounded from subpar season in 2010 posting a 7-3 record (second-most wins) with 63 strikeouts to 27 walks in 91.2 innings and boasting a 2.26 ERA, which ranked third in Conference USA. He struck out at least five batters in six of his 19 appearances and against Rutgers on March 20, fanned a career-best 12 batters securing a season sweep with a 6-0 shutout win over Scarlet Knights.
The lefty from Fuquay Varina, N.C. worked seven shutout innings surrendering just two hits with out allowing a walk and was named Conference USA Pitcher-of-the-Week, his third career honor. Brandt faced one over the minimum (22 batters), fanned at least one hitter in all seven frames and had two strikes outs in four of seven innings. The stellar performance on the bump also earned him recognition on the College Baseball Foundation National All-Star Team.
Later in the season, Brandt tossed his second career complete game against No. 21 Rice on April 10 where he allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits with six strikeouts and one walk. During his three-year career, Brandt owns a 19-12 overall record with 204 strikeouts and 84 walks in 249.1 innings with a 3.61 ERA.
