East Carolina senior Timothy Younger produced his best weekend of baseball when he and the Pirates played host to Houston in early April at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium.
On the heels of a 2-for-4 performance, where he reached base three times against instate rival UNC Wilmington, the Clearwater, Fla. native led the Pirates to their second-straight Conference USA series win over Houston. He recorded multiple hits in all four games on the week and scored at least one run in all three league games, totaling five on the week, on his way to C-USA Hitter-of-the-Week honors.
Batting in the leadoff spot, something he did 33 times on the season, Younger was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI, reached base four times (two singles, walk and fielder's choice) and scored the game-winning run in the Pirates 10-3 series opening victory.
Younger followed that with his third-straight multi-hit performance, once again going 2-for-4 at the dish, in ECU's 16-1 win in seven innings. He scored a pair of runs and drew an opening frame walk in the seventh where he would later score on a wild pitch during the "mercy-rule" contest.
In the series finale, he tied his career-high with three hits (two singles, double) and scored a pair of runs.
Younger, who became the ninth recipient of the honorary No. 23 jersey worn by the late ECU Head Coach Keith LeClair, started 60 games on the season (52 at second base) concluded his career season batting .313 (68-for-217) with 10 doubles, 27 RBI and scored 38 runs.
