Overton's Lake Kristi
Located eight miles from Greenville, Lake Kristi serves as the home course for the East Carolina men's and women's cross country teams. The course has been the home to numerous cross country meets throughout the years, including four NCAA Regionals and a pair of Conference USA Championship meets.
ECU hosted the 2002, '03, '04 and '05 NCAA Southeast Cross Country Regional Championships at Lake Kristi as well as the 2001 and '06 C-USA Championships. Lake Kristi has also been the site of the 1996 and '97 U.S. Open Water Ski Championships.
Lake Kristi is privately owned by V. Parker Overton family of Overton's, Inc., the world's largest water sports dealer. A man-made lake, Lake Kristi is specifically designed for for water-skiing.
Situated on approximately 300 acres, the course features wide open rolling hills and presents race spectators with a great view of the competitors. In addition, the course has a soft pine needle wooded loop.
Lake Kristi is named for Overton's daughter, Kristi-Overton Johnson, former professional water skier and world record holder.
