2010-13 Construction Updates
Basketball Practice Facility
Architect's Rendition: Features for the ECU Basketball Practice Facility include the following:
• Two stories (playing floor and observation deck)
• 48,000-square feet
• Separate practice courts for the men's and women's programs
• Separate office suites and team meeting rooms for the men's and women's programs
• Two fully-equipped sports medicine treatment rooms with modalities, amenities and offices
• State-of-the-art ECU Athletics Hall-of-Fame headquarters and area designated for Pirate Athletics memorabilia for fans and visitors to enjoy
• Primary access to Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum
• Expected final construction cost of $17 million

Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium
Architect's Rendition: Changes to Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium include the following:
• 7,000 additional seats in east endzone
• New 84' wide x 28' tall HD-rated score/video board.
• New Structure includes 39,600 square feet of seating and 11,741 square feet of accessory structures and concourse.
• Approximately 5,500 cubic yards of concrete - enough to cover the entire playing surface of Bagwell Field with nearly 2 1/2 feet of solid concrete.
• Approximately 470 Tons of reinforcing steel
• Entire structure rests on (270) 16" diameter auger cast piles - each pile reaches an average depth of 55' below the surface. Each pile has a design capacity of (40) Tons.
• New Men's & Women's toilet facilities - (2) of each
• New Concessions Buildings - (3) each including (1) commercial-grade kitchen
• New Souvenir Building
• Aluminum bench seating in the entire seating bowl.

Track & Field Facility

• eight-lane polyurethane track
• field event competition area (infield/throwing)

Soccer Stadium
• 1,000-seat (192 chairbacks) capacity

Olympic Sports Support Building
• 20,000 square feet
• coaches offices
• meeting, locker, equipment rooms
• fully-equipped sports medicine facility
