The Pirates can still make it to the C-USA Championship game, but would need some help. The following must occur:
- ECU beats SMU
- UCF loses to Memphis
- Southern Miss wins against Tulsa
In this scenario, the eastern division becomes a three-way tie and the Pirates would win the tiebreaker by virtue of having the highest intra-division win percentage (since head-to-head would be inconclusive).
This also means SMU would win the West division, and with an ECU win in this scenario, the head-to-head goes to the Pirates and the championship game would be an SMU vs. ECU rematch at Dowdy-Ficklen on December 5th.

Quarterback Dominique Davis
Junior quarterback Dominique Davis established East Carolina single-game records for completions (43) and attempts (65) against Navy while finishing one yard shy of the passing yardage mark with 413. He added five touchdown passes against the Midshipmen, tying his career high, as well as the ECU single-game record. Jeff Blake threw five against Southern Miss, Nov. 9, 1991, and Davis had five against Tulsa in the season opener.
As a result of his performance, Davis was named a College Football Performance Award Honorable Mention Quarterback-of-the-Week and a Manning Award Player-to-Watch. Davis currently leads the nation in points per game accounted for (23.0), completions per game (30.4) and touchdown passes (31).
