2011-12 Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll Get Acrobat Reader

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- Almost 200 East Carolina student-athletes have earned recognition on the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll during the 2011-12 academic year, Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced today. The Pirates had 195 student-athletes to maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better and be named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Three Pirate teams placed over 80 percent of their student-athletes on the list with an additional three teams having over 70 percent of their roster represented. The women's golf team and women's swimming and diving squad each had 85.7 percent of its student-athletes achieve Honor Roll status. Six of the seven members of the women's golf team were recognized as were 30 of the 35 student-athletes on the women's swimming and diving team. Eleven of 13 members of the women's basketball squad (.846) maintained a 3.0 GPA. The women's cross country team had 13 of its 17 student-athletes (.767) named to the Honor Roll, while the men's golf and volleyball teams each placed eight of its 11 members (.727) on the list.

Rice placed the highest number of student-athletes on the honor roll, producing 232 members. UCF ranked second with 221, while Memphis following closely with 218 student-athletes on the list. The total number honored is an increase of more than six percent from a year ago.

Student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better also receive the Commissioner's Academic Honor Medal. Those winners will be released tomorrow.
