Student-Athletes Named To C-USA Honor Roll

Complete Release in PDF Format IRVING, Texas --- A total of 188 East Carolina student-athletes have earned recognition to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll during the 2009-10 academic year, Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced today. It marks the fourth consecutive year that ECU has had over 180 student-athletes achieve Honor Roll status. Student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better. All 13 members of the ECU volleyball team were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll, while seven of eight women's golf and nine of 10 men's tennis student-athletes also maintained a 3.0 GPA. Five Pirate teams placed over 70 percent of their student-athletes on the list with an additional four teams having at least 50 percent of their student-athletes represented. The Pirate football team had the most student-athletes on the list with 29, followed by the women's soccer team with 23 (of 29). Rice placed the highest number of student-athletes on the honor roll, producing a record 227 members. UCF followed closely with 221, while Tulsa ranked third with 202 student-athletes on the list. Student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better also receive the Commissioner's Academic Honor Medal. Those winners will be released tomorrow. |
