ECU Student-Athletes Awarded C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal

IRVING, Texas --- A total of 35 East Carolina University student-athletes earned the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal during the 2005-06 academic year. The medals are given to C-USA student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.75. ECU had the second highest number of student-athletes to be awarded the medal with 35. Memphis had the most academic medal winners with 37. The men and women's cross country teams and softball team each had four medal recipients. Women's golf, women's soccer, women's swimming and women's tennis each had three players earn academic medals. Fourteen of the East Carolina's 17 conference-sponsored sports teams had at least one student-athlete receive an academic medal. Women's Cross Country (4) - Hayley Flynn, Caitlin Littlefield, Jennifer Perrino, Jessica Raphael. Football (2) - Shawn Levesque, Joseph Sloan. Men's Golf (2) - Elliott Jones, Markus Leandersson. Women's Golf (3) - Jessica Hauser, Lene Krog, Michelle Williams. Men's Soccer (1) - David Levine. Women's Soccer (3) - Madison Keller, Nicole Moore, Mary Puckett. Softball (4) - Sarah Bibee, Jessica Johnson, Jessica Potter, Joyce Roodenburg. Women's Swimming (1) - Ashley Gelsomin, Abbey Hillen, Kelly Swain. Men's Tennis (2) - Britton Steele, Henrique Viana.
