GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina dance team Coach Kristin Winstead has been named June Coach-of-the-Month by Varsity.com, the official website of Varsity Brands, Inc.

"There are many things I hope my dancers get from the squad at East Carolina," Winstead explained. "One thing I hope they take with them is the ability to use their talent in whatever they do. Many of them want to be dance teachers or coaches, but I hope the others will find something in life to help others learn the art of dance. Dance is something with which everyone can communicate, and I hope they can use that talent in their future."

Winstead and the dance team participate in and contribute many hours to community service events such as the Walk for Women, Read Across America Day, Make a Kid Smile and hosting a dance clinic for local Girl Scout troops.

"I am very fortunate to have a very experienced team," Winstead stated. "They are able to impact each other just as much as I impact them. I would say I impact them the most in the school spirit area in terms of having love and appreciation for their school. I have really learned a lot about the East Carolina history and alumni, and I enjoy sharing that passion with my team."

Winstead has served as a Universal Dance Association (UDA) Instructor for eight years as well as a Head Instructor for four years.
