GREENVILLE, N.C. – Paul Dodson has been named director of marketing at East Carolina University, according to an announcement by assistant athletics director for marketing and sales Greg Herring.

Dodson’s primary responsibilities will involve spearheading the marketing efforts for ECU’s men’s and women’s basketball programs, assisting with group ticket sales, coordinating game-experience responsibilities during home football contests and providing oversight of the department’s staff.

“We are excited to welcome Paul,” Herring said. “His experience at Evansville brings a wealth of knowledge to our staff. With his hire, it is a great feeling to bring his professional expertise on board and complete our marketing staff.”

Dodson arrives after spending the last two years as director of marketing and event management at the University of Evansville where he was responsible for the overall administration and direction of the school’s athletics marketing efforts. He created and implemented marketing plans for the men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball programs.

He played an integral role in the Purple Aces’ marketing plan that generated five-percent overall increases in student attendance at athletic events each year through an improved student rewards program and involvement with groups on campus.

Prior to his time at Evansville, Dodson spent two years in the marketing department at Missouri State, where he began as an intern in July 2011 before being promoted to marketing associate just six months later. In that role, he oversaw sponsorship sales, advertising and game operations for men’s basketball and football, while accruing an eight-percent increase in sponsorship renewals for the fiscal year.

Dodson earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing with a concentration in advertising and promotions from Missouri State in the spring of 2010. He is currently enrolled as a graduate student at his alma mater and expects to complete his master’s degree in administrative studies in May 2015.

Dodson and his fiancée Rachel Vukson will marry in early August 2014. She was a former volleyball player at Tulsa and UCF and was a member of the Canadian National Team.
