GREENVILLE, N.C. – Ben Crawford has been hired as assistant athletic trainer at East Carolina University according to an announcement by assistant athletics director for medical services Mike Hanley.
His main area of emphasis will involve providing a direct athletic training support role for student-athletes competing within the track and field program.
Crawford arrives at ECU after spending the 2013-14 season as an intern at Towson University. He worked primarily with the women’s track and field, cross country and cheerleading teams, while assisting with football, softball, gymnastics and women’s soccer. He was also appointed medical director of the 2013 Colonial Athletic Association’s (CAA) Cross Country Championships.
Prior to his stint at Towson, Crawford served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Saint John’s (Minn.) University for two years while working with the track and field and men’s ice hockey programs.
Crawford is certified by the National Athletic Training Association (NATA) and possesses medical board licenses in the states of Maryland and Minnesota.
As an undergraduate student at Saint Cloud State (Minn.) University, he worked as an athletic trainer for USA Ice Hockey’s U-16/U-17 and U-14/U-15 girl’s player development camps from 2010-12.
Crawford graduated from Saint Cloud State with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training in 2011, before earning his master’s degree in exercise science and health promotion with a concentration in rehabilitation science from California University (Pa.) in 2013.
