A Proud Day For The Pirates
Sept. 4, 2007
Dear Pirate Fans, Everyone in the Pirate Nation should be extremely proud of our heartfelt compassion and our generous caring contribution to the Virginia Tech Hokie Fund. I'm pleased to say that I was part of the pregame ceremony. It was filled with genuine emotion from the Hokie fans, alumni and students as well as our own Pirate faithful. Terry Holland made the correct call just after April 16 for ECU to contribute to the Hokie Fund. His foresight for us to raise $100,000 to aid a suffering neighbor goes without saying. If only every Pirate supporter could have witnessed the gratitude from all of the Hokie Nation, it would be a feeling never forgotten. The entire country knows that our support was truly from the heart and that is priceless! Through generous members of the Pirate Club, we raised $31,500, a nice outpouring but still $68,500 short of our goal. Every member should feel compelled to participate in the Hokie Fund. Regardless of how small a contribution, we are 11,000 members strong and we can complete this finest and most rewarding pledge. Please don't delay and send your contribution immediately. I promise that you will always be proud that you were part of the greatest contribution ECU has ever given to a neighbor. Donations can be sent to the Pirate Club, Ward Sports Medicine Building, Suite 304, Greenville, N.C. 27834 or by calling 252-737-4540. GO PIRATES! Grant Jarman |
