Pirate Fans Donate Tickets For R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl To Military Personnel
Dec. 10, 2012
GREENVILLE, N.C. - As East Carolina prepares for its clash against Louisiana in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on Dec. 22, please consider purchasing tickets to help send local military personnel and their families to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome to cheer for the Pirates!
The ECU Athletics Department is working with the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport, Miss., to identify deserving military families who are not traveling for the holidays. Every ticket purchased during our "Tickets For Troops" campaign will be matched ticket for ticket by East Carolina.
"After surprising the Ricafrente Family (watch) at halftime of the Houston game this year, it helped put into perspective what kind of families we are touching," ECU Head Coach Ruffin McNeill said. "Erlene and I have already made our donation and we challenge the Pirate Nation who can't attend or that want to help these deserving men and women do the same by donating a ticket to this campaign."
As an added treat for the troops and their families who show up at the Superdome, East Carolina will be providing the first 1,000 military personnel with a purple ECU military appreciation t-shirts. These shirts will be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis to those military families that took advantage of our "Tickets for Troops" offer.
Pirate fans who purchase tickets designated for the troops will receive a Pirate Military Appreciation Koozie.
To participate in the "Tickets for Troops" campaign, go online to the 2012 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Ticket Donation link or call 252-737-4500.
Since 2006 when the "Tickets for Troops" effort started, the Pirate Nation has donated over 5,500 tickets to military personnel and their families.
Thanks for helping us paint the holidays purple for our troops in New Orleans!
Deadline to donate: 5:00 p.m. (EST), Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 to guarantee recipient delivery in time for the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl game featuring East Carolina and Louisiana.
