A two-sport athlete from 1954-57, Bob Maynard was a member of the Pirate
football and track teams during his years at ECU. Maynard was a four-year letterman
in football and made the list of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities
and Colleges. As a track competitor, Maynard was the 220-yard dash conference champion in 1957. He also participated in the 100-yard dash and 220-yard low hurdles.
Maynard graduated in 1958 with a bachelor's of science degree, and then began
work with the John Deer Company, being named Vice President at the young age of
32. A member of the ECU Educational Foundation since 1980, Maynard is also a former Pirate Club President.
