Claude Keith King, Sr., was a member of East Carolina's athletics program for four years from
1951 to 1955.
King is remembered most for his great play in football. An all-conference
performer in 1954, King's 45.7-yard punting average ranks second all-time for highest
season punting average behind Andrew Bayes.
Also in that year, King set an East Carolina record that still stands today as he
booted an 88-yard punt against Appalachian State.
King also participated in golf at East Carolina from 1952-1955.
