James Mallory will go down in the East Carolina history books as one of the Pirates' greatest coaches ever.
Mallory served as baseball coach at East Carolina from 1954-62. During his coaching tenure, Mallory had the highest winning percentage in ECU baseball Pirates history with a 161-60 (.729) coaching record. Mallory held the top position until 1990.
In 1961, Mallory led the Pirates to a NAIA Championship, the school's only national baseball championship. Mallory coached many great athletes, including Cecil Heath, who is also a member of the Athletics Hall of Fame.
Mallory became the Dean of Men in 1959 and was the Associate Dean of Students at East Carolina.
