Jody Schulz starred for the Pirates on the gridiron from 1981-1982, while on his way
to becoming a second-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 1982 National Football
League Draft.
Though Schulz played only two years at East Carolina, he made sure to leave his
mark -- especially on the opponents. Schulz lead the team in tackles in 1981 with 125
total tackles, including nine sacks.
During the course of his two years with ECU, he recorded 19 sacks, placing him as
the top pass-rusher in the state for that time period. Schulz earned honorable mention
All-America honors by the Associated Press in 1981 before turning in one of the top
performances around with 105 tackles and 10 sacks in 1982 to earn AP All-America
accolades.
