Kevin Moran was one of many great players to come through the Stasavich Era at
East Carolina.
After graduation from Bradley High school, Moran moved to East Carolina's football
program in 1964. That year was not a bad year for Moran by anyone's standards as he
was named captain of the Freshman Team and won the Outstanding
Freshman Award. Moran participated in the 1965
Tangerine Bowl the following season.
In 1966 , Moran was named All-Southern in 1966 and '67 and earned all-state honors in 1966. He was an
Associated Press Honorable Mention All-America selection in '66.
Moran was the co-captain of the 1967 Pirate football team under Clarence Stasavich that
finished 8-2. That year, Moran received all-conference honors and was the winner of
the Jacobs Blocking Trophy. He is one of only two Pirates to ever claim the prestigious
award.
