Richard "Rooster" Narron is a part of the rich baseball tradition at East Carolina.
In 1966, Narron was named All-Southern Conference, all-state and was an All-America and all-district nominee.
Narron played on East Carolina's first two Southern Conference championship
baseball teams, helping the Pirates to a 17-10 record in 1966 and a 23-6 mark in
1967. During 1967, Narron was team captain and received All-America honors.
Narron went on to sign with the New York Mets in 1967 and played there until
moving to the Baltimore Orioles for the 1970 season.
