Roger Thrift was inducted into the East Carolina Hall of Fame for his participation and achievements in football from 1949-50.

Thrift played quarterback for the team those years with the Pirates and set several records that had stuck in the record books for many years.

While at East Carolina, Thrift was named all-conference, all-state and Little All-America honorable mention.

After leaving the East Carolina area, Thrift moved on to become a distinguished coach and athletic administrator at the high school and collegiate levels.
