Although he never wore a uniform or coached a team, there are few indiviuals who
have made such a deep-felt impact on Pirate athletics as Walter L. Williams. A native
of Greenville, Williams' continued vision, tireless efforts, and generosity have helped
ECU gain success both athletically and academically.
Williams has spent almost four decades dedicating countless hours and energy
heading up fund-raising campaigns and leading projects for the Pirates. He was a
driving force as co-chair of ECU's Kickoff to Victory Campaign which raised $10.8 million
for the building of the new strength & conditioning center, and is presently co-chair of a
campaign to fund a new baseball stadium.
A loyal Pirate Club member since 1966 and former executive president, he has
established three endowment scholarships for student-athletes.
