Sydney Darden Tabbed To AAC Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Senior outside hitter Sydney Darden has been named to the first American Athletic Conference Weekly Volleyball Honor Roll, according to an announcement Monday by the league.

Darden earned MVP honors at the Bucknell Invitational over the weekend, leading East Carolina to its third-straight 3-0 start and the tournament title. She averaged 3.80 kills per set and hit .289 in the three matches while also producing a 2.40 digs per set mark.

In the tourney opener, Darden put down 15 kills on 25 attempts with just three errors to end up with a career-high .480 hitting percentage. She followed that performance by notching her first double-double of the season in the 3-1 victory over Bucknell to the tune of 17 kills and 14 digs while adding two service aces and two blocks (one solo).

After the first weekend of competition, Darden ranks seventh among AAC players in kills per set.

ECU returns to the court Sunday, Sept. 4, when its travels to Savannah State for a single match against the Tigers. First serve is set for 1 p.m. inside the Willcox-Wiley Gymnasium.
