Hofbauer and Ruiz Earn Seed at ITA Carolina Regional

Ruiz and Hofbauer Earn Doubles Seed at ITA Carolina Regional

Chapel Hill, N.C. – For the first time in ECU women's tennis history a doubles team earned a seed at the ITA Carolina Regional. Celia Ruiz and Lisa Hofbauer were seeded No. 9 in doubles while Ruiz was seeded ninth in singles.

As a unit the Pirates won 11 singles matches and was 1-3 in doubles play over the course of the three-day regional.

Morris' Thoughts
"We had a great day in singles on Friday, going 7-for-9 with wins over Clemson, Wake forest, and North Carolina. Our entire team played hard and we ended up with four players in the main draw, which is a first for our program. Overall, it was a solid tournament for our team, in that we were able to compete against and win against the top programs in our region, and we were also able to see through this competition the areas in our program in which we need to work to continue to improve."
