
Abushouk And Sullivan Named October Student-Athletes of the Month

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Senior Bakri Abushouk and junior Grace Sullivan of the ECU cross country program have been selected the male and female Student-Athletes of the Month following an outstanding October athletically.

Abushouk took the individual crown at the Pirate Invitational, clocking in at 24:00 in the 8K and leading ECU to a second-place finish - just one point behind Duke. He followed that performance with a fourth-place result at the American Athletic Conference Championships, running a time of 25:18 to earn all-conference honors and help propel the men to a fourth-place finish. It was the highest standing at the league championships for the men since joining the AAC.

Sullivan claimed the individual women's title of the Pirate Invitational, matching her personal-best 6K time of 20:37 that is the second fastest in program history. At the AAC Championships, she took home sixth place with a 6K time of 21:55 to earn all-conference accolades. Sullivan was named the AAC Female Athlete of the Week Oct. 17.

The pair has completed 11 hours of community service thus far during the 2017-18 academic year.
