CORAL GABLES, Fla. – East Carolina sophomore Kate Law carded an opening round 75 (2-over par) Monday and is currently tied for 34th place at the Hurricane Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole event is being held at the par-72, 6,150 yard Biltmore Golf Course.
Law started the day with a birdie on the first hole followed by four consecutive pars before bogeying the sixth hole. After two more pars, she double-bogeyed No. 9 to finish her front nine with a score of 38. At the turn, she opened with a bogey on No. 10 then had eight-straight pars to close the day with a 37 on the back nine.
Freshman Dorthea Forbrigd is tied for 47th after her 4-over par round of 76 (37-39), which consisted of two birdies, four bogeys, one double-bogey and 11 pars. Rounding out the Pirates roster are junior Lisa Pettersson (77/t54), freshman Siranon Shoomee (77/t54) and sophomore Carley Cox (80/t79).
As a team, the 49th-ranked Pirates carded 17-over par 305 and are currently in 14th place. No. 46 Louisville (286/2-under par) leads No. 16 Northwestern (289) by three shots after 18 holes. Thirty-fourth ranked Michigan and No. 14 Miami are tied for third at 290 followed by Penn State (291) in fifth place.
Second round action is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. (ET) with ECU teeing off from No. 10 starting at 8:10 a.m. Pirate fans can follow live scoring on Golfstat.com.
