
East Carolina Unable To Snap Saint Francis’ Winning Streak In Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas – Saint Francis (Pa.) won its 13th-straight game Sunday morning, downing East Carolina 4-1 in the finale of the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic at Rocky Johnson Stadium on the campus of Texas Tech University.

Redshirt junior catcher Alex Mycek provided the Pirates' only hit of the contest while senior outfielder Ali Ramirez drove in a run on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the first inning that gave ECU a brief 1-0 lead. A total of eight different Red Flash batters recorded a hit and Sierra McKee tallied a pair of RBI.

Ketarah DeVries (6-4) collected her second win of the season over East Carolina, going the distance in the circle and notching eight strikeouts against three walks. Junior Meredith Burroughs (2-1) was saddled with her first loss of the campaign after surrendering two runs on four hits in just 0.2 innings of work.

Saint Francis opened the top of the third inning with three-straight singles to tie the score at one before another RBI single off the bat of McKee put the Red Flash ahead for good. DeVries retired 15 of the final 16 Pirate batters she faced the rest of the way.
