Conover Wraps Up Season At College Grove Regional

COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn. – East Carolina junior Tim Conover wrapped up the 2016-17 campaign tied for 62nd at the NCAA Men's Golf College Grove Regional Wednesday at the par-72, 7,383-yard Grove Club course.

Conover, who is the fourth Pirate individual to participate in NCAA Regional play, fired a final round of 7-over-par 79 for a 54-hole tournament score of 14-over-par 230. The Holly Springs native stood 2-over-par through nine holes Wednesday before making the turn and carding a 5-over-par, bogeying the final three holes.

American Athletic Conference member UCF captured the regional championship posting a final round of 3-over-par 285 to finish at 1-under-par 863, edging second-ranked Vanderbilt, No. 14 Clemson and No. 39 Kennesaw State, who each carded a team total of 1-over-par 865, by two strokes.

The aforementioned foursome and fifth-place Lipscomb (+5/869) each advance to the NCAA Men's Golf Championships at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.
Lipscomb's Dawson Armstrong won the individual title with a three round total of 8-under-par 208, finishing two strokes in front of Kennesaw State's Chris Guglielmo. Troy's Cam Norman was the top individual not on a team advancing, qualifying him for the National Championship after a 3-under 213 three-round score.
