Women’s Basketball Set to Host Eight Non-Conference Games in 2017

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's basketball team will play eight of its 13 non-conference games at home this season, as the 2017-18 non-conference schedule was released by school officials Friday.
"We really like this year's non-conference schedule," eighth-year head coach Heather Macy said. "A lot of thought has been put into not only opponents but also destination cities. We are thrilled for some of our players to have the opportunity to go back home and play in front of their families."
The Pirates' season begins at home when the Spartans of USC-Upstate visit Williams Arena in Minges Coliseum Friday, Nov. 10.
"I love the core of the returners and I feel confident that the newcomers will contribute right away," Macy added.
With a home-heavy schedule, East Carolina travels just four times in non-conference play. The Pirates visit UNCW Nov. 18 and head north to East Orange, N.J., Nov. 25 and 26 for the Seton Hall University Tournament.
During November, ECU hosts Richmond, William & Mary and Charlotte following the Nov. 10 opener against the Spartans.
East Carolina hosts Norfolk State Dec. 2 and then travels to Kennesaw State two days later on Dec. 4. December 14 will serve as the Pirates' annual Education Day game when they host North Carolina Central at 11:30 a.m. A mid-December trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., has ECU paired up with former Conference USA rival UTEP on Dec. 17 before returning home to face Savannah State Dec. 20.
The non-conference slate wraps up Dec. 28 with a home game against Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Game times will be announced when the full schedule is released in September.
