GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina's existing radio flagship agreement with WNCT-FM (107.9) to air live Pirate football and men's basketball action has been extended five years to 2022 according to a joint announcement by ECU Athletics Director Jeff Compher, Inner Banks Media President Henry Hinton and IMG College General Manager Meghan Heinchon on Wednesday.
Â
WNCT-FM, which has served as the Pirates' flagship station since 2008, utilizes a powerful 100,000-watt signal that extends to Raleigh (west), southern Virginia (north) and up and down the North Carolina coastline.
Â
Additionally, East Carolina baseball will enjoy significantly expanded coverage on the FM dial next season as all games will be broadcast on 94.3 The Game.
Â
"We're happy to extend 107.9 WNCT as the flagship station of the Pirates under its new management of Inner Banks Media and Henry Hinton," Compher said. "It's great to be able to partner with a family of radio stations that will be able to promote our teams on a variety of channels throughout the region. This is a positive for our fans, the athletics department and university."
Â
The Scottie Montgomery and Jeff Lebo Radio Shows will be carried live on a weekly basis via 94.3 The Game from Logan's Roadhouse during the fall and winter, respectively, and will feature a new broadcast time - 12 noon - to enhance fan accessibility.
Â
"We are ecstatic to be back involved with ECU and IMG, and we're looking forward to taking coverage of the Pirates to unprecedented levels," Hinton said. "Our commitment to the program will not only include the huge signal of 107.9 WNCT, but all of our platforms including our other local stations. We are particularly excited to get ECU baseball back on the FM dial on 94.3 The Game."
