Pirates Turn In 13th Workout Of Fall Camp
August 17, 2017 | Football
GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina turned in its 13th practice of fall camp Thursday morning at Hight Field inside the Cliff Moore Practice Complex with a near two-hour workout in shells.
"I thought we looked sharp at the beginning of practice both on offense and defense," second-year head coach Scottie Montgomery said. "In the middle, we got frustrated with one another and wanted to start doing more after the whistle than I was comfortable with. After we settled everyone down, we got back out there and ended on a good note. This is a physical and good football team. We have to continue to work on our mental toughness as we move forward this season. If we can put those two things together, then we have a chance to be pretty good."
ECU conducted special team and individual unit meetings before taking the field under cloudy skies and temperatures reaching 90 degrees. The Pirates spent a total of 23 minutes on special teams work and a combined 35 minutes of team with focus on all facets of the game, including first-and-10 and redzone efficiency. Additional time during individual group work was spent on routes vs. air, pass and run blocking, as well as gap assignments.
The Pirates have one scheduled practice remaining before closing camp Saturday, August 19 with their second and final intra-squad scrimmage.
Single-game, three-game mini packs and season tickets for all ECU homes games are still available to Pirate Nation and can be purchased by calling the ECU Athletic Ticket Office at 252-737-4500, through the Online Ticket Center, or by visiting the ECU Athletics Ticket Office.
