Michelle Newhouse Named American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week

Providence, R.I. – ECU's Michelle Newhouse has been named American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week as announced by league officials Monday afternoon. Newhouse recorded a 1-0-1 week in goal for the Pirates without allowing a goal and made nine saves including a career-high seven in a 0-0 draw against Old Dominion.

In four appearances this season, Newhouse holds a 3-0-1 record with a 0.24 goals against average. She hasn't allowed a goal in the last 293 minutes of action and has posted three-consecutive shutouts.

She made two saves in the Pirates 1-0 win over Campbell on Aug. 31 and tallied her career-high in saves against the Monarchs while facing 18 shots.

Newhouse becomes ECU's first AAC Goalkeeper of the Week honoree since Saundra Baron on Aug. 24, 2015. Baron and Erika Lenns were previously the only two Pirates to earn the honor. Baron and Lenns each won twice during their careers.
