
Tyson And Lajoie Named December Student-Athletes of the Month

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Senior B.J. Tyson of the men's basketball team and senior swimmer Julie Lajoie have been selected the male and female Student-Athletes of the Month following an outstanding December athletically.

Tyson averaged 14.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 35.5 minutes per game in six games in December and was named to the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll Dec. 4. He posted the first double-double of his career with 17 points and 10 rebounds against Tulsa and scored 20 points in the win over Grambling State. Tyson also moved into third-place on the AAC all-time scoring list and into the top 10 on the school's list with more than 1,350 points.

Lajoie qualified for two NCAA B cuts in the 400 IM and 200 backstroke events as well as set a new varsity record in the 200 backstroke. She ranks in the top four in the AAC in the 200 fly and 200 backstroke and is third in the league in the 400 IM.

The pair has combined to complete 15 hours of community service thus far in the 2017-18 academic year.
