GREENVILLE, N.C. – The ECU women's basketball team (8-6, 0-1) will conclude a four-game home stand with the No. 1 Connecticut Huskies (11-0, 1-0) in Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum. Wednesday's start time has been moved up to 2:00 p.m. due to the forecast of inclement weather in the region tomorrow evening.

The Pirates are led by freshman Ariyana Williams who is averaging a team-high 11.6 points per game. Williams received the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week award after a career-high 34 points against Savannah State. Senior Thais Oliveira is second on the team in scoring with 10.6 points per contest while also leading the team in rebounds with 7.7 per game. Oliveira is tied for first in the AAC in total blocked shots (24) and second in blocks per game (1.7). Junior Alex Frazier has recorded 62 assists on the season and is fifth in the conference with 4.4 assists per game.

ECU leads the AAC in offensive rebounds with 228 total and averages 16.3 offensive rebounds per game. The Pirates are also second in the conference in steals (11.4) and blocked shots per game (4.3).

With a 64-54 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore on Dec. 28, eighth-year head coach Heather Macy tied Sharon Baldwin-Tener (2002-2010) as the program's all-time wins leader (126).

UConn's perfect record this season and all-time conference record remained unblemished after defeating Tulsa at home 97-49 last Sunday for the team's 83rd consecutive AAC win. Five-of-eleven UConn victories this season have come against teams in the nation's top-25. The Huskies average a conference-best 90.1 points per game. Six Huskies are scoring in double-figures, led by Katie Lou Samuelson who averages 19.3 per game.

ECU is 0-6 when facing the AP top-ranked team in the country, all six of the contests have come against the Huskies. The last time the Pirates defeated a ranked opponent came on Feb. 14, 2015, when the purple and gold knocked off USF at home 65-64.

The Pirates are trailing the Huskies in the all-time series 8-0 and hold the same record under head coach Heather Macy. In the last meeting on Jan. 24, 2017, the Huskies defeated ECU 91-44 in Greenville. All eight meetings have come since ECU joined the AAC in 2014. Six-of-eight games came in regular season play while two came in the conference tournament in 2014 and 2015.
