Ryan Davis Captures AAC Weight Throw Title In Meet Record Fashion

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior thrower Ryan Davis made a huge splash on day one of the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, capturing the weight throw conference title with a meet-record mark of 21.00 meters.

He was one of two ECU all-conference performers during the day as freshman pole vaulter Sommer Knight placed third in the event with a school-record effort of 3.99 meters.

After day one, the women are in second place with 24.5 points while the men are in eighth with 15.5 points. Wichita State leads the men's standings with 52 points and Cincinnati is first on the women's side with 54 points.

- Senior Mohogany Baker just missed the podium in the weight throw, finishing in fourth place with a mark of 19.33 meters.
- Freshman Jada Terrell placed fifth in the long jump at 5.79 meters.
- Freshman Mackenzie Whitaker ended up fifth in the pentathlon with a total of 3,483 points.
- Junior Nick Ciaccia captured sixth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 14:30.51.
