STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Facing a top 25 team and other regionally ranked opponents this weekend, the ECU track and field program held its own against the stiff competition as it competed in the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup on the campus of Penn State University.
Â
On the men's side, No. 8 Penn State scored 254 points to win the team title while the Pirates finished second with a score of 112.5 points. As for the women, Cornell compiled 179.5 points to finish first, followed by No. 24 Penn State in second place (161 points) and ECU in third (121.5 points).
Â
"After four meets of our indoor season, I feel like this was by far the best one we have had collectively on both the men's and women's sides," Director of Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Curt Kraft said. "We made some improvements on the American Athletic Conference performance list, won many events and had numerous personal bests. We have to continue to improve over the next three weeks as we prepare for the AAC Indoor Championships. Both teams are feeling good about the progress they have made over the last few weeks. We have won more opportunity to compete before we leave for Birmingham."
