Davis And Cause Named January Student-Athletes Of The Month

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Junior Ryan Davis and senior Galissia Cause of the track and field program have been selected the male and female Student-Athletes of the Month following an outstanding January athletically.

Davis took first place in the weight throw at Liberty Kickoff Jan. 26, breaking the meet and facility record. He also captured first place in the weight throw at VMI Invitational on Jan 20th, setting that meet record. In the first meet of the indoor season, Davis turned in a first-place finish in the Shot Put at the Dick Taylor Carolina Cup Jan 13th. He was selected the AAC Male Field Athlete of the Week Jan. 26. Davis is currently ranked first in the American Athletic Conference and 29th nationally in the weight throw

Cause is undefeated in the shot put event this year, recording wins at UNC, VMI, and Liberty. She broke the meet and facility record at VMI and is the school record holder in the shot put. Cause is currently ranked third in the American Conference and 30th nationally in the shot put.

The pair has completed a combined 71.5 hours community service this academic year.
