Volleyball Hosts First Spring Event Sunday

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The ECU volleyball team competes at home for the first time in its spring season this weekend, hosting Barton and Newberry Sunday March 25 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. respectively.

The Pirates opened the spring campaign last Sunday at NC State against the host Wolfpack and Charlotte. The teams played three sets to 25 points and one to 15. ECU won two of the first three sets versus NC State, a 2017 NCAA Tournament team, by scores of 25-22, 14-25 and 25-15 before dropping the fourth 14-16. The Pirates then fell in three of four sets to the 49ers 16-25, 25-22, 24-26 and 10-15.

"We had a few players out with injury or illness, but it was a great chance for us to get everyone some playing time," head coach Julie Torbett said. "It is nice to see what your players can do against other teams to gauge where you are."
