GREENVILLE, N.C.  – The ECU track and field program excelled this weekend at the Raleigh Relays, setting two school records and turning in numerous top-10 finishes.
Â
Freshman Sommer Knight claimed fifth place in the pole vault invitational event, producing a school-record mark of 3.95 meters. She now owns the indoor and outdoor school records in pole vault. Additionally, junior Grace Sullivan smashed her personal record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, running a 10:26.02 which is good for the program record and the top time in the American Athletic Conference this season.
Â
"I was extremely pleased with most of all the performances this weekend," Director of Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Curt Kraft said. "I feel like we improved leaps and bounds from last week. If we are going to reach our team goals by conference time, we have to continue to perform like we did this weekend. Anytime your teams are setting school records this early in the outdoor season, that's a sure sign that we can continue to improve over the next two months. Now we turn our attention to our home meet next weekend. As you know, we are extremely excited about hosting our annual event each and every year."
