Pair Of School Records Highlight Final Regular Season Weekend

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The ECU track and field program ended its regular season over the weekend, participating in a pair of meets – the Duke Invitational and Virginia Challenge.

Junior Grace Sullivan broke the school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:23.92 while freshman Sommer Knight set the program standard in the pole vault with a mark of 4.05 meters.

Quoting Coach Kraft: "I was very pleased with the performances from this weekend. One of the main goals was to come out of this weekend's meets healthy. I felt like we got a lot of good work done in a lot of different areas. We have to go back and get some great practices in over the next two and a half weeks. I feel like the confidence and the enthusiasm on both teams is at a high level."

Things To Note

ECU will enter the AAC Outdoor Championships with three student-athletes leading the American Conference in their respective events (Sullivan/3,000-meter steeplechase, Stefano Migliorati/800m, Ryan Davis/hammer).
Sophomore Nuria Tillo-Prats recorded a 1,500m time of 4:31.25 – the fourth fastest in program history.
Sophomore Dean Abushouk turned in the seventh-fastest 10,000-meter times in the school annals at 32:00.08.

Up Next: The Pirates will travel to Cincinnati May 11-13 for the 2018 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships.
