Emerged from spring workouts in a competitive battle for ECU’s starting quarterback job in 2019 … Expected to open campaign officially listed second on the unit’s two-deep but the new coaching staff expects a battle with sophomore Holton Ahlers to continue throughout training camp and early during the season … Turned in an admirable spring effort, completing a combined 24-of-44 passes (54.5 percent) for 276 yards and three TDs in a trio of scrimmages (along with two interceptions) … Was 7-of-12 for 74 yards and a score (3-yarder to Tay Williams) during the first intra-squad contest on March 30 before throwing for 102 yards and a TD (45-yarder to Jsi Hatfield) on a 7-of-14 passing performance in the second outing (April 6) … Was 10-of-18 for 100 yards and a score (2-yarder to Blake Proehl) to help lead the Gold to a 71-36 victory in the Purple-Gold Game on April 13 … Also accounted for a team-high 10 first downs and converted five-of-13 third-down snaps during the spring finale.
2018: Opened sophomore season as the Pirates’ starting signal-caller … Played in nine overall games and made seven starts – the first six (North Carolina A&T, North Carolina, USF, Old Dominion, Temple, Houston) and the finale at NC State (filling in for an injured Holton Ahlers) … Did not play in contests against UCF, Memphis and Tulane … Completed 154-of-288 passes (53.5 percent) for 1,607 yards and six touchdowns … Averaged 178.6 aerial yards per game … Also credited with 24 rushes for -67 yards … Turned in season-long run of 13 yards vs. the Tar Heels and posted a career-high four rushing attempts four times … Threw for 250 or more yards on four occasions and eclipsed the 300-yard mark twice (had identical 309-yard outings against N.C. 2017: Experienced action in two games as a redshirt freshman … Came off the bench in contests vs. Virginia Tech and Cincinnati … Completed only pass thrown all season, a 20-yard TD strike to Brown with 5:06 to play during ECU’s 48-20 win against Cincinnati at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium … Recorded four rushes for four yards (1.0 ypr) … Picked up one yard on only tote vs. the Hokies before gaining three yards on three attempts against the Bearcats … Also had a long rush of four vs. Cincinnati … Entered first active campaign after a stellar spring that included a collective 26-of-38 (68.4 percent), 312-yard, four-touchdown passing performance in three scrimmages.
2016: Redshirted during initial campaign in ECU program … Took majority of snaps while directing the offensive scout team … Was part of former head coach Scottie Montgomery’s inaugural signing class, inking with Pirates in February.
