Pirates among 13 schools from the Old North State competing in Greensboro
Kate Moore, one of the most decorated swimmers in Pirate history, is in her eighth season as a member of the coaching staff. Moore has been a part of ECU swimming since enrolling in school during the fall semester of 2003.
A native of Pottstown, Pa., Moore was a four-time all-conference performer, championship finalist and U.S. Open qualifier. As a junior in 2006, she achieved personal best times in the 200 and 400 IM, which were both ranked among the top 10 times in school history. The following year she posted the second-fastest time ever at ECU in the 100-yard butterfly. She also recorded the second-fastest time in school history in the 200-yard butterfly.
Her passion for the sport was on display even as a freshman and her diligence in the pool was rewarded as she voted the team's Most Improved Swimmer during the 2003-04 season. The following season she was the recipient of the ECU Coaches Award. During the 2006-07 season, she received the team's Most Outstanding Swimmer award.
She received her bachelor's degree in physical education in 2007 and earned her master's degree in health education two years later. She is married to ECU Athletic Trainer Jake Moore.
