Pirates End Season At Zone Diving Championships

Dunsmore and Russell wrap up careers at regionals

Ryan Hunt became East Carolina's men's and women's diving coach in March of 2012 following a two-year stint as a volunteer assistant coach for the Pirates from 2008-10.

A four-year letterman for the Pirates, Hunt earned a bachelor's and master's degree from East Carolina University. He received his bachelor's degree in 2008 and his master's degree in 2010, obtaining both degrees from the University's department of health and human performance. He was named the department's 2008 Most Outstanding Graduate.

A native of East Hampton, N.J., Hunt was a two-time All-Conference USA performer and four-time NCAA Zone B Regional Championship participant. He was the recipient of the team's Most Outstanding Diver Award in 2005, '06 and `07. A former team captain, Hunt currently holds the school record on the three-meter springboard and ranks among the top-10 in two other events.

Hunt began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant coach with the Pirates upon graduation in 2008. As a coach he has worked with several NCAA Zone Championship qualifiers.

He worked as an admissions counselor at ECU after receiving his master's degree until he accepted the diving coach position.
