KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --- Seniors Tyler Dunsmore and Kirstie Russell along with Sean Piacente wrapped up the 2012-13 swimming and diving season for the Pirates at NCAA Zone Diving Championships over the weekend.
Dunsmore, a four-time regional qualifier, became the first ECU diver to reach the finals of the one-meter springboard competition. He earned score of 283.75 in the preliminaries and finished 16th in the finals competition. He concluded his career by finishing 22nd on the three-meter springboard.
Russell also participated in the one and three-meter springboard competitions, finishing 36th and 38th, respectively.
Piacente was the lone member of the trio to compete on the platform, where he posted his best finish of the three events, 23rd-place. He tallied a score of 250.30 to finish 29th on the one-meter springboard and placed 30th with a scores of 234.60 in the three-meter competition.
"It was great to see Tyler and Kirstie conclude their ECU diving careers at regionals," Pirate diving coach Ryan Hunt said. "They have been invaluable to our program and we are certainly going to miss them.
"It was a great experience for Sean to be here as a freshman. He has shown a lot of improvement over the course of the season and I expect him to be a regional qualifier again next year."
