GREENVILLE, N.C. --- A pair of meet relay records were set Friday afternoon as the East Carolina men and women's swimming and diving team held its annual Purple-Gold intrasquad meet at Minges Natatorium.

The Purple team won the men's meet, 145-143, while the Gold team claimed victory in the women's meet, 149-148.

"Overall, we very pleased with our swims considering it was our first day back in Minges," head coach Rick Kobe said. "We do have some work to do, but it was a good day of swimming."

Holly Berenotto, Lauren Chew, Bailie Monahan and Heather O'Toole teamed to set the women's 400-yard free relay record as did the foursome of Geoffrey Bobsin, Michael Dugan, Hyatt Gaston and Nikola Simic on the men's side.

Sophomore Rokas Cepulis posted three individual triumphs with first-place finishes in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke as well as the 200-yard IM. Other multiple individual event winners included: Anna Gibas (100 and 200 backstroke), Elizabeth Oliver (100 and 200 breaststroke) and Daniel Woods (100 and 200 butterfly).

The aforementioned Berenotto (500 and 200 freestyle), Chew (500 and 1000 freestyle) and Simic (50 and 1000 freestyle) were also multi-event winners.

The Pirates will open the regular season on Oct. 5 at the North Carolina Collegiate Kickoff Classic in Greensboro.
